While addressing the gathering, Mr. Roy said, "Our future depends on how quickly and efficiently environmental problems are addressed. All of us have to take bold and unequivocal actions to create and implement innovative solutions to protect the environment and ecology. One of the most effective ways of achieving this is tree plantation."
He further stated, "Observing Vanomahotsab at Haldia Refinery is a declaration of faith in our ability to check global warming and environment
pollution." Highlighting the significance of massive plantation of tress, Mr. Roy said, "It is time to initiate concerted actions to preserve and promote the ecology of Planet Earth. The Vanomahotsab is a solemn occasion to rededicate ourselves to the cause of environment."
Over 150 saplings were planted by the IndianOilPeople and 1500 saplings were distributed among the members of the neighbouring community in and around the Refinery township. Vanomahotsab is being celebrated at Haldia Refinery every year since 1974. As on date, more than 39,342 trees are thriving in the Refinery Greenbelt and the Township. Haldia Refinery Township has also developed more than five nurseries for nurturing the greenery of the township and for planting saplings throughout the year on a continuous basis.
